11:30 am: RCW Meeting - 8/21/2019
August 21, 2019 –
It's back to school time for the kiddos, but we have knowledge for you, too! Join us at The Blake in Flowood on August 21st between 11:30 am and 1 pm for our monthly meeting, and here are our speakers:
SPOTLIGHT SPEAKER: Tammy Foster, Executive Director, Compassus Hospice. Meet the company behind Alahna's exuberant announcements every month!
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Helen Brown, Hinds County Sheriff's Office, Topic: Human Sex Trafficking. We are so fortunate to have Helen Brown with the Hinds County Sheriff's office come and speak to us about the difficult subject of Sex Trafficking. We copied this from Helen's Facebook page: "We all have to understand it’s more than strangers that are forcing our youth into sex trafficking. I’m more concerned about family, so called friends and those that have easy access to our children. Yes it’s happening right in our backyard, nobody’s immune to it. Don’t wait til this cancer (sex trafficking )hit home before you join our fight." This is not just a subject that Helen is passionate about stopping, she lives her life helping others and fighting against it. Our first step towards stopping this horrific practice is educating ourselves more about it and what we can do.
Admission is $10, payable CASH or CHECK - and please make your checks payable to The Blake. This is for your hot lunch, prepared by The Blake. At this time, we do not accept credit or debit cards for payment. The money we collect at the door goes straight to The Blake. Now, if you would like to give money to us.....
BUY AN AD: From now until the end of the year, we are selling ads on the website at a reduced price. $50 will get you a spot on our Members page, which includes a 50ish word write up and a rotating image carousel of up to 3 images. $25 will get you a business card image on our Directory page which links back to your website. The money we collect for these goes into an account, from which we then make donations to folks that might not be able to be helped by other charitable organizations (past example: school supplies for children whose mother has cancer, etc). The money also helps fund our Distinguished Young Lady Scholarship (read more about our first winner HERE).
RSVP NOW: RSVP's are absolutely required to attend, and we cap the meetings at 50 ladies. If you haven't RSVP'd from our front page, you can also email an RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
